A New Season Begins

Welcome to basketball!

The Grade 8 Girls program is the entry level to a very exciting journey of skill development, team awareness, and competitive play. While substantial in its own right, it serves as a great starting point that allows players to seamlessly enter the world of high school athletics.

We’ve got a great basketball program here at St. Joe’s, and nowhere is that more evident than in our Junior Girls program, where our Jaguars have run with the field the past two seasons, including a UOVHSAA “A” division championship in 2008. At the same time, our Senior girls have captured two consecutive "A" championships of their own. Taken together, that's three appearances at the EOSSAA championships in the past two years for our Junior and Senior Girls.

We believe that all of that starts right here in Grade 8, and it’s our goal to accomplish a number of very important things.

First, let’s put this school on the map in terms of competitive basketball in the County, and let’s make sure that other folks know they’re in for it when we come to town. Second, let’s start accumulating some banners as evidence of our success. And third, and most importantly, let’s teach some young women the great sport of basketball, and give them the opportunity to experience this sport at the high school level.

At St. Joseph’s, we don’t stop at the development of basketball players. Rather, we’re intent upon the development of the whole person. And we just happen to think that the two can go hand in hand.

We thank you for the support you’ve given to this program, and encourage one and all to come out and support these young women as they represent this school in the months and years ahead.
